Dobali deep-water port: first feasibility findings presented to Guinea's Ministry of Transport

On 19 May 2026 in Conakry, Mohamed Bakayoko, Secretary General of Guinea's Ministry of Transport, received a delegation led by Infraports Invest Guinée, the company developing the Dobali deep-water port. The delegation presented the first results of the project's feasibility work, including the bathymetric and economic studies.

A port for the Boké mining corridor — and beyond it

Located in the Boké region in Guinea's north-west, Dobali is intended to strengthen the logistics chains carrying bauxite exports from a region that concentrates much of the country's mining resource. The design does not stop at mining: the port is planned to handle other categories of cargo and to bring together several logistics functions, so that an integrated ecosystem can develop around it.

Why the studies matter now

A port of this kind is largely decided before anyone breaks ground. The bathymetry, the marine access, the available land and the economic case fix an envelope, and the phasing, the financing structure and the operating model all have to fit inside it afterwards. Studies at this stage are how that envelope gets drawn.

It is also where the corridor question opens. Dobali is being presented as regional infrastructure serving four countries, and that only holds if the road and rail behind it are planned at the same time as the quay.
